I bought this book for a class I was taking, and it worked great. One day I got caught in heavy rain writing in this book; it didn't smudge, and the pages didn't show any water damage, even though I was drenched. Any type of erasing in this book though, does leave a smudgy mess, but I felt that was a good thing as it encouraged me to do my field notes properly and cross out mistakes instead of trying to erase them.
