OUTSTANDING BALL POINT PEN, February 22, 2008 By Al White "Al" (San Mateo, CA) - See all my reviews We cannot remember where we bought the one Staedtler pen we currently own. It is the smoothest ballpoint we have ever owned.It really writes bold as advertised. It has been difficult to find this pen in retail stores or even online. But Amazon has it...so we are buying a good supply of them. I am a vintage pen collector and have owned over 700 fountain and ballpoint pens. But the Staedtler Maxum 1.6 Medium is now the only pen I use.

My penmanship always comes out looking best when I write with this pen. Black is the color I use most often, I find that it has the smoothest ink. For some reason the blue ink tends to drag & make writing more difficult. I've tried the multi-color pack also but there's no day-to-day need to use fashion colors at the workplace - I think those colors are best for artists & teens.
I've tried all other bold point pens I could find (I don't like gel pens) & I think this one is by far the best in terms of writing comfort & results. It can smear a little but doesn't leak nearly as much as all the other bold points have & the ball tends to get stuck after periods of inactivity which is a little annoying because it slows me down a bit during a busy work day but ink flow always comes through beautifully. My favorite. I wish the blue ink flowed as well as the black.
