I am rather fussy about pens, I take notes all day long and I like a good pen. They need to write smoothly with a fine or extra fine tip and gel pens are always preferred. This pen passes the test, it writes smoothly and cleanly with good color (I tried the blue). The eraser part is pretty cool, the ink is heat sensitive and when warm enough (140 degrees F), the ink fades away. The eraser on the end of the pen is used to provide friction which generates enough heat to erase the ink- very clever! Unlike a typical eraser, this is not removing the top layers of paper so this really doesn't damage the paper. This would be perfect for the person who likes to do sodoku or crossword puzzles in ink. This would not be the perfect pen for someone who leaves their notes in the car- one hot summer day and all your work would be gone!

I'm an avid user of Pilot pens and really like this latest evolution. The former days of erasable pens resulted in smears and short-lived erasers. The Frixion's eraser tip won't wear down through time as it is the heat of the rubbing motion that removes the ink.
The pen has a sleek feel in the hand and writes smoothly. The ink rubs away cleanly and without smudging or damage to the underlying paper. Writing over an area that was erased is a non-issue with the Frixion or other pens. My work notes are now free of unsightly scribbles to cover mistakes. It makes me almost wish I was back in school.
Note: The packaging references an important consideration - 140 degrees F, the ink disappears. To test this out, I held written words at an angle to the flame of the candle. It was cool to see the ink disappear like magic! The ink returned (although slightly less vivid than the original) after a short while in the freezer. A fun parlor trick that could wow small children.

As a nurse, I go through a lot of pens. I'm always on the look out for good pens... ones that write well and don't smudge. These pens are the answer.
On top of being a great pen to write with, these pens also are erasable. I didn't believe that they could truly be erasable at first. Most erasable pens leave horrible marks behind. Not these. They erase clean, leaving no residue. These pens left me truly amazed. I can't wait to order more.
